The talks will be at the Town Hall in Hobart (Macquarie St, across from the old Mercury building)

When : Saturday 03 August at 3pm (finishes at 5.30pm)

1004627_10151813861217415_1187122275_nCourtney Jones (local astronomer) will enlighten us about the science of auroras.
Courtney Jones is involved in world class astrophysical research both independently and as part of international collaborations. In 2013, Courtney is enrolled in three degree programs including a PhD in Physics, and was a finalist in the 2013 Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards: TEMCO Science and Technology Award. Courtney volunteers her time for school visits to promote maths, physics and astronomy and is a requested speaker at teacher curriculum development days. Check out some of her work on The Universe facebook page, where she signs her articles ‘CJ’.

David Hunter is an archaeological geophysicist from Melbourne and an Aurora Australis enthusiast. He is most interested in the physics involved in auroras.
