Aurora talks in Hobart
Come and be amazed by all things aurora during a special afternoon of science and wonder…
The talks will be at the Town Hall in Hobart (Macquarie St, across from the old Mercury building)

Margaret Sonnemann will talk about the community Aurora Australis Tasmania, the good locations to view auroras in Tasmania and more.
Francois Fourie will show us some beautiful images and give an introduction to aurora and night sky photography.

Courtney Jones (local astronomer) will enlighten us about the science of auroras.
Courtney Jones is involved in world class astrophysical research both independently and as part of international collaborations. In 2013, Courtney is enrolled in three degree programs including a PhD in Physics, and was a finalist in the 2013 Southern Cross Young Achiever Awards: TEMCO Science and Technology Award. Courtney volunteers her time for school visits to promote maths, physics and astronomy and is a requested speaker at teacher curriculum development days. David Hunter will present tools and information about aurora prediction and monitoring (for the geeks amongst us).
David Hunter is an archaeological geophysicist from Melbourne and an Aurora Australis enthusiast. He is most interested in the physics involved in auroras.
